Traditional Japanese Rooms
The air-conditioned rooms at Ohanabo Inn feature tatami flooring and Japanese futon bedding. Each room includes an LCD TV, electric kettle, and fridge. Guests receive cotton yukata robes, slippers, and toiletries. Some rooms have a seating area and en suite bathrooms with rainfall showers and electronic bidet toilets. Family rooms accommodate up to 6 guests with futons.
Kaiseki Dinners & More
Ohanabo serves multi-course 'Kaiseki' dinners in-room, with optional maiko (apprentice geiko) performances. Guests must reserve dinner in advance. The hotel also offers ikebana (flower arrangement) sessions at 15:00. Nearby, Higashi Honganji temple has food stalls, and Kyoto Station (550m away) has convenience stores and ramen shops.
Public Bath & Activities
The hotel has a gender-separated indoor public bath (onsen) with traditional wooden decor. Massage services are available. Common areas display floral arrangements and traditional crafts. Free Wi-Fi is available in public spaces, along with luggage storage and laundry facilities.
Near Temples & Transit
Ohanabo faces Higashi Honganji temple (300m) and is 550m from Gojo subway station. Kyoto Tower is a 5-minute walk. Fushimi Inari Shrine is 10 minutes by car or 20 minutes via metro. Osaka Itami Airport is 50km away. The area has shops selling Kyoto handicrafts and matcha sweets.
Century-Old Ryokan Service
This 12-room ryokan operates in a 100-year-old building with paper lanterns and sliding doors. Staff arrange taxis, dry cleaning, and wake-up calls. Safety features include smoke detectors and first aid kits. Check-in requires advance notice for meal reservations and futon setup.
“The hotel stands out for its dedication to traditional Japanese hospitality, underscored by cultural immersions and historical experiences; its location near Kyoto Station provides ease of access to key destinations. I'd say that guests find exceptional service and authentic ryokan-style accommodation here, further complemented by opportunities for multi-course Kaiseki dinners and on-site public baths. It's a distinct and thoughtful choice for those seeking a rich cultural stay.”
